Virtual Supportive Outpatient Program (SOP)

A Supportive Outpatient Program is the least intensive treatment program and is designed to add less treatment than Detox, Residential, Partial Hospitalization, or Intensive Outpatient Program. SOP is mostly a required treatment level of care mandated by legal entities such as probation officers. It is not a treatment level of care covered by insurance policies due to the limited hours of care per week. Our SOP is 2 sessions per week for 6 weeks totaling 12 sessions overall.

Understanding the Levels

Substance use disorder treatment consists of 5 different levels of care. Not everyone will need to complete every level of care.

  • Medical DetoxMedically managed symptoms of initial withdrawals.
  • Residential TreatmentPatients remain in a facility 24/7 for approximately 30 days.
  • Partial Hospital ProgramTypically will consist of 20 hours per week of clinical based programming.
  • Intensive Outpatient ProgramsLess intensive, generally meet 3 or 4 days per week for an average of 2.5 to 3 hours each session.
  • Supportive Outpatient ProgramsTypically only used as a mandatory program set forth by either a judge or probation officer. This is the least restrictive level of care. Insurance policies do not cover this level of treatment.
